This extension of the museum was funded by two American brothers who visited the museum in June 2007. Amongst the exhibits they saw a photograph of their father, Major David Dewhurst, a Squadron Commander. They had been unaware of the part he had played during the landings in June 1944 as their father had been killed by a drunk driver in a car accident in 1948. The two brothers (one is currently Lieutenant Governor of Texas) returned home to Texas and subsequently raised one third of the funds to pay for this superb building which opened on 6th June 2011.
