The Oriel Window, South Gallery, Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire.

The pioneer photographer, William Henry Fox Talbot used this window to take his first successful camera image in either 1835 or 1839.
This was the earliest surviving negative and led to Fox Talbot's development of the negative/positive process to record images by chemical means.
