Abbaye d'Hambye, Normandy.
The Abbey of Notre Dame of Hambye was founded around 1145, established by Benedictine monks , building a sober and elegant monastery, typical of the early Gothic period.
Like all French abbeys, it became national property at the beginning of the French Revolution in 1775.
It was under new ownership in 1790 and fell in to disrepair and ruin with the church itself being used as a quarry from 1810.
